Dr. Sarah Markiewicz

Sarah Markiewicz studied theology (BA), Ecumenical Studies (MA) and Comparative Religion (Dr.Theol) in Oxford, Bonn and Berlin. She completed her doctorate at the department for Religious Studies and Intercultural Theology of the Humboldt University of Berlin on the topic of Christian-Muslim Dialogue. She subsequently became a postdoctoral fellow at the al-Balqa’a University in Jordan. 

Sarah Markiewicz has held roles as Senior Lecturer at the department for Religious Studies and Intercultural Theology of the Humboldt University of Berlin, Visiting Researcher at the Orient Institute in Beirut and Interim Professor at the Seminar for Religious Studies and Intercultural Theology of the University of Muenster. She lectures and conducts and supervises research on the intersection of interfaith relations and peace, conflict, international development and dialogue. 

Sarah Markiewicz was Social Cohesion Advisor with Malteser International, a German faith-based organisation, for a program in Erbil, Iraq. She also works as a consultant, currently with the Inter-Parliamentary Union and previously with the United Nations. She is a mentor for the Oxford Forum for International Development.
